Gameplay Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Gameplay Engineer in Ireland.

We are seeking a skilled Gameplay Engineer to develop and optimize gameplay and audio systems in a fast-paced, collaborative game development environment. In this role, you will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams including designers, engineers, QA, and production to deliver stable, efficient, and high-quality systems that support the creation of world-class game content. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to multiplayer game features, engine systems, and tools while applying your expertise to enhance performance, reliability, and user experience. The ideal candidate thrives in a remote-first setting, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and has a strong passion for gameplay and audio integration.

Accountabilities:
  • Collaborate effectively with audio and gameplay designers and engineers to implement robust systems.
  • Write efficient, clear, maintainable, and portable code for gameplay and audio features.
  • Develop, manage, and deploy microservices and supporting infrastructure.
  • Maintain and improve build systems, pipeline reliability, and configuration management solutions.
  • Apply and enforce security best practices across development pipelines.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve performance, memory, and multi-threading issues efficiently.
  • Document processes, contribute to operational best practices, and support cross-functional team needs.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in gameplay and audio system development.
  • Proven experience integrating Audiokinetic Wwise.
  • Strong knowledge of game applications and engine systems, including AI, physics, camera, and animation.
  • Understanding of multiplayer architectures, replication, and client-server models.
  • Solid debugging and troubleshooting skills, particularly with memory management and multi-threading.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a remote-first environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Highly Valued / Nice to Have:

  • Experience shipping a game in Unreal Engine.
  • Knowledge of multiple programming languages such as C++ and Python.
  • Familiarity with full software development lifecycle.
  • Experience supporting multi-platform releases (PC, console).
  • Prior experience in a collaborative game development environment.
