The Senior Software Engineer will design and implement backend services, APIs, and data pipelines in a modern serverless AWS environment, ensuring robust, secure, and high-performance systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and operations, to deliver impactful solutions. - Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems, APIs, ETL pipelines, and internal tools in a serverless AWS architecture
- Implement and optimize data onboarding, eligibility workflows, and benefits policy administration processes
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code in TypeScript/Node.js and Python, following best practices and coding standards
- Ensure system performance, reliability, and security using monitoring and observability tools like Datadog and CloudWatch
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, product teams, designers, and customer stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, on-call rotations, and support CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery
- Contribute to system architecture decisions, technical documentation, and mentor junior developers
Requirements:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with TypeScript/Node.js, Python, React, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, GraphQL, and REST APIs
- Strong experience with AWS serverless technologies, including Lambda, Glue, S3, API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS, Secrets Manager, CDK, and Serverless Framework
- Knowledge of ETL pipelines, CSV/API data ingestion, data transformation, and event-driven architectures
- Proficiency in testing frameworks and tooling, including Jest, Pact, Cypress, Gherkin, and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs and building AI-powered features such as virtual assistants, summarization tools, or RAG workflows
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills with the ability to balance technical solutions with business goals
- Passion for building products that enable workforce development and education outcomes
