This role is a senior leadership opportunity within a highly technical and mission-driven environment, responsible for overseeing complex government and defense contract portfolios. You will lead a team of contracts professionals while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and strategic execution across high-value agreements. The position plays a critical role in managing DoD contracts, supporting proposal development, and guiding negotiations across a variety of contractual structures. You will act as a key advisor to business leadership, helping balance risk, compliance, and commercial outcomes. The environment is fast-paced and cross-functional, requiring strong collaboration with engineering, legal, and program teams. This is a hands-on leadership role where your decisions directly impact program success, financial performance, and operational integrity.
- Lead and develop a team of contracts professionals, providing coaching, mentoring, task delegation, and performance oversight to ensure high-quality and compliant contract execution.
- Manage major Department of Defense (DoD) contracts end-to-end, including solicitation review, proposal support, negotiation, contract administration, change management, and risk mitigation.
- Oversee contract compliance with federal regulations, internal policies, customer requirements, and applicable legal frameworks, including FAR and DFARS.
- Support and guide proposal development efforts, including RFP analysis, pricing inputs, teaming agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
- Advise leadership on contractual rights, obligations, risk exposure, and mitigation strategies across programs and business units.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with program management, legal, finance, and engineering teams to ensure aligned execution of contract requirements.
- Monitor contract performance, cash flow considerations, and historical contract data to support strategic decision-making.
- Engage in negotiations with government and commercial stakeholders to secure favorable contractual outcomes.
This role requires strong experience in contract administration within complex government or defense environments, supported by a bachelor’s degree with significant professional experience or a master’s degree with fewer years in the field. Candidates should bring deep expertise in negotiating and managing multiple contract types, including cost-plus and fixed-price agreements. Strong knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and other U.S. government contracting regulations is essential. Prior leadership or people management experience is required, along with the ability to guide and develop teams effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical for interacting with senior leadership and external stakeholders. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities in complex and regulated environments. Proficiency in standard business tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint is expected. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance is required.
