Digital Enterprise Technical Authority Engineer at Electric Boat – Groton, Connecticut

The Digital Enterprise (DE) Technical Authority (TA) Engineer will provide support to the VPM, CLB, and SSN(X) Technical Authority team. This includes both managing and working on initiatives to further develop and enhance Electric Boats capability to deliver design disclosure information internally to all downstream consumers as well as externally to SUPSHIP and NAVSEA.

The TA Engineer would support:

• Assist the TA Core Team in working on initiatives brought from across the business to enhance the TA disclosure development and delivery process.
• Drive efficiency into the TA value stream by developing and tracking tool updates/testing, processes/procedures and training.
• Work with the Future plant studies team to develop the technical foundations of the VA IPMP and SSN(X) Programs
  • Specification and Standards Development
  • Format and Content baseline for future programs
  • Diagramming for future programs
  • Model Based Definition improvements for future programs
  • Advanced Design capabilities for evaluation
• Assist in running the TA Core Team to help provide resolution to issues raised by the TA
• Discipline leads as well as downstream functional areas.
• Assisting with Metric reporting for TA Task Progress, TA ITCR development, and TA value stream budget while targeting metric improvement areas based on implemented process/tool changes.
• Maintain status of all ITCR’s and Task’s to closure.
• Communicate and provide training when applicable to updated processes and software changes.
• Supporting & coordinating business case development for new TA Digital Enterprise tasking improvements.

To be successful in this position the applicant should have:

• High level working knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter and NX
• Experience with new submarine program development and the submarine design cycle
• Facilitation Skills: To lead brainstorming sessions, team meetings, and cross discipline discussions on different TA initiatives
• Project Management Skills: Managing to established dates and schedules, as well as estimating and scheduling new task development
• Ability to develop effective relationships
• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Basic understanding of TA Digital Enterprise (DE) processes & tools
• Knowledge of the TA development process from concept through disclosure delivery

Required:

• A Bachelor's Degree of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Software, Industrial, Systems, Computer or Chemical Engineering
• 5+ years of professional engineering experience
• Active DoD Secret clearance

Preferred:

• Engineering Specification Development experience
• Requirements development experience
• Experience in Model Based Delivery of design information
