JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Systems Administrator
Employment Classification: Full-Time/Exempt
Reports to: Chief Technology Officer
Department: Information Technology
Position Summary:
The Systems Administrator oversees the day-to-day management and general business operation of the IT infrastructure for both Orangewood Foundation and Samueli Academy. This includes the administration, supervision, maintenance, troubleshooting, analysis, development, and upgrading of hardware, software, network, internet, database, end user devices, security systems, and SaaS solutions.
Requirements:Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Responsible for maintenance, configuration, development, upgrade, and operation of virtual server environment and corporate network.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors, documenting problems and resolutions, assessing impact of issues, and communicating with affected users.
- Oversee the imaging and deployment of devices to staff and students.
- Manage, administer, and supervise SaaS platforms used internally including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Egnyte, Google Workspace, and others.
- Advise other members of the IT Department to serve the needs of staff, faculty, and students across seven sites and two datacenters.
- Administration of Dialpad cloud phone system and physical security infrastructure, including video surveillance and access control systems.
- Administer and maintain Check Point firewall infrastructure and related network security policies.
- Manage email security platforms, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and Microsoft Entra ID conditional access policies.
- Occasionally provide helpdesk support for onsite staff and end users as needed.
Knowledge, Skill, and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Microsoft MS-102 (Microsoft 365 Administrator), AZ-104 (Azure Administrator), CCNA, or CompTIA Security+ certifications strongly preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in Systems Administration.
- 3+ years of experience in IT Support.
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Intune MDM.
- Experience with Windows Server and its related components (DHCP, DNS, AD, etc).
- Knowledge of server virtualization technology and backups.
- Strong knowledge of security, data backup, and disaster recovery.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Cisco network equipment.
- Experience with Check Point firewall administration a plus.
- Experience with Powershell or other scripting languages a plus.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Comfortable presenting oneself in community settings.
- Experience working in a regulated industry (HIPAA, PCI, etc.) a plus.
- Possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
- This role is a hybrid role with expected weekly in-person presence in the office and in the field.
- Position may occasionally have to perform technical tasks outside of normal working hours.
- Position may require use of personal vehicle.
- Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending and lifting up to approximately 50 lbs. (i.e. tables, chairs, food, water, etc.).
- Modification to work schedule may be made based on needs of the Foundation.
