Role Summary
The National Account Sales Representative is a senior-level individual contributor responsible for the growth and health of our largest "house" accounts. This individual serves as the primary liaison between our brand and the headquarters of major national retailers (e.g., Bass Pro, Academy, Cavender’s). The sales reps mission is to secure optimal shelf placement, drive weekly replenishment, and navigate high-impact seasonal sell-in programs that ensure long-term, mutually beneficial growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Account Planning & Growth: Develop and execute strategic plans to expand brand footprint and exceed revenue targets within assigned big-box accounts. Identify "white space" opportunities for new product distribution and category expansion.
- Stakeholder Management & Negotiation: Build and maintain deep-rooted relationships with corporate buyers and category managers within assigned accounts. Pitch and secure seasonal sell-in opportunities, maintain contractual obligations, and facilitate the store-level rollout of incremental programs.
- Data-Driven Category Leadership: Actively analyze POS and syndicated data to provide fact-based recommendations to retailers. Leverage these insights to optimize assortment, improve on-shelf availability, and lead quarterly business reviews (QBRs).
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in national account management specifically within the big-box or retail space.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in analyzing retail performance metrics and proficiency with retailer-specific portals and CRM software.
- Mobility: Willingness to travel nationally (up to 30–50%)
What Success Looks Like
- Sustainable Revenue Growth: Consistently meeting or exceeding annual sales quotas and expanding category offerings
- Operational Excellence: Maintaining best-in-class service while minimizing out-of-stock scenarios through tight coordination with supply chain teams.
- Relationship Depth: Earning a "preferred vendor" status where retail buyers proactively seek your insights for category strategy and new product launches.
