About the Role:
As a CDL-A Driver with Hazmat Endorsement in the manufacturing industry, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient transportation of hazardous materials and other goods between QuestSpecialty Wayne Michigan locations. Your primary objective is to ensure timely delivery while strictly adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations governing the transport of hazardous substances. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the cargo, performing thorough vehicle inspections, and managing all necessary documentation related to hazardous materials. This role demands a high level of safety awareness, professionalism, and communication skills to coordinate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and regulatory agencies. Ultimately, your work will support the manufacturing supply chain by ensuring that materials are delivered securely and on schedule, minimizing risk and maximizing operational efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) with a current Hazmat Endorsement.
- Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents in the past three years.
- Knowledge of and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and hazardous materials handling requirements.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination and drug screening.
- Experience operating commercial vehicles in a safe and professional manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience driving in the manufacturing or hazardous materials transportation industry.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management software.
- Strong mechanical aptitude for basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial motor vehicles safely and efficiently to transport hazardous materials and other freight in compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and cargo to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
- Load and unload hazardous materials carefully, following all safety protocols and handling procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle maintenance, and hazardous material documentation as required by law.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and regulatory authorities to coordinate schedules, report issues, and ensure compliance.
- Adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies related to hazardous materials transportation.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies or incidents involving hazardous materials during transit.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety regulations ensures that all transportation activities meet legal standards and minimize risk. Preferred skills like familiarity with electronic logging devices and transportation software enhance efficiency and accuracy in record-keeping and route management. Additionally, mechanical aptitude supports quick resolution of minor vehicle issues, reducing downtime and maintaining delivery schedules.
