Job Overview:
RWJ Hamilton is seeking a qualified per diem MRI Technologist in Somerville, NJ. The MRI Technologist functions under the direction of the MRI supervisors and the director of the Radiology Department. Primary responsibilities include technical, supportive, and departmental responsibilities. The MRI Technologist has the knowledge and skills necessary to operate and maintain MR equipment. The MRI Technologist also performs duties associated with preparation of patients for MRI procedures. The MRI Technologist demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the specific age categories.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of an approved Radiological Technology Program that meets the requirements set by the ASRT and the New Jersey Certification Board
- Must be able to work independently
- GE experience needed
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- ARRT Licensure with MRI Certification
Scheduling Requirements:
- Day shift
- At least 1 holiday shift per year
- 2 weekend shifts/months as needed by department
- 2 weekend on-call rotations/month as needed by the department
- Per Diem
Essential Functions:
- The MRI technologist has the knowledge and skills necessary to perform MRI scan on patients to produce high-quality diagnostic images
- Operates MRI equipment to produce quality patient diagnostic images
- Performs high quality patient diagnostic MR scans efficiently
- Evaluates the quality of images to minimize repeat visits due to technical errors
- The MRI technologist has the knowledge and skills necessary to operate the supportive Equipment associated with MRI procedures
- Appropriately applies the various associated with MRI coils
- Demonstrate the ability to operate the MRI associated with power injector
- Demonstrates the ability to save images to optical disks, compact discs, vhs tapes, and films as needed
- Performs MRI quality assurance tests as necessary
- Ability to check helium levels
- Ability to perform phantom test for center frequency
- Monitors MRI system images for any problems
- Monitors coils and associated equipment for wear
- Appropriately screen patients for MRI procedures
- Inserts intravenous lines as ordered by physicians when necessary
- Provides emergency medical care, i,e: CPR as indicated and or directed by the physician or nurse when necessary
- Provides patients with any necessary post-procedure teaching
- Performs contrast injections per protocol as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
