JobSummary:

The Substation P&C Design Engineer supports the delivery ofsubstation detailed design projects from the conceptual phase through designcompletion for electric utilities, contractors and developers.

JobDuties and Responsibilities:

• Collect, compile, and analyzedata relating to substation components, equipment specifications forprocurement package development and pricing, IFR/IRC design and reviewprocesses, and IEEE/NESC Standards/NERC regulations for design work.

• Assist in reviewing third-partydesign documents, procurement lists, and project plans.

• Perform professional electricalengineering work relating to the design of single line, three line, AC/DCschematics, SCADA & DFR connections, wiring diagrams, general arrangement,substation layout and bus arrangement, grounding grid design and lightningprotection in conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction oroperating permits.

• Participate in incorporatingfuture-ready techniques, concept development, operating strategies, and variousdesign requirements with equipment sizing and cabling, AC/DC panel design, andconduit and trenching design strategies that account for the safety andfunctionality of end-users, systems, and infrastructure.

• Support senior engineers withresearch and recommendations of fundamental components identified in designrequirements, as well as field equipment applications and operations.

• Verify the characteristics of asite, providing technical assistance on various engineering, design, testingmaintenance modifications, and construction procedures and issues.

• Develop electrical calculationsfor loads, equipment sizing, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, lightingcircuits and controls, facility and electrical service, and power distribution.

• Prepare data and visualizationssuch as tables, charts, accurate reports, sketches, calculations, andillustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, oranalyses.

• Maintain quality controlstandards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statisticalanalysis, and reporting.

• Work as an individual or aspart of a cross-functional team of engineers, planners, scientific, andconstruction professionals to execute project work, assist with laying outinstallations, calculating costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor, andensuring project work conforms with specifications, permit applications,compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.

• Assist with development andscoping of small- to medium-sized projects.

• Contribute to the preparationof technical reports and presentations that explain research and findings toimprove, prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or electricalengineering issues or problems.

• Conduct engineering studies andsurveys to gain further information on a particular design and constructionproblem or issue and/or to plan for future needs.

• Assist in the analysis,evaluation, and interpretation of data obtained during field investigations,offering input with developing action plans for low to mid-level riskmitigation activities.

• Assist in the preparation andimplementation of site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).

• Work collaboratively with otherengineers and disciplines on projects with electrical infrastructureauthorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement anddevelopment projects.

• Perform additionalresponsibilities as required by business needs.

Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

Basicor Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering;

• Five (5) years of relevant post educationexperience in an electrical engineering capacity designing power transmissionand distribution systems in utility or industrial/commercial environments;

• Exposure to operations and project controlsexperience for purposes of reporting;

• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles,practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and projectwork-related issues;

• Experience with infrastructure planning, design,and construction management, including rehabilitation and new design;

• Ability to coordinate with agency regulators andunderstand requirements;

• Knowledge of relevant engineering and electricalconstruction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keepingrequirements;

• Availability and ability to work on multipleprojects simultaneously;

• Availability and ability to work overtime asneeded based on project needs;

• Strong written and verbal communication skillswith the ability to interact with company and client staff at all levels;

• Ability to learn new techniques, performmultiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, andcomply with company policies;

• Experience with discipline-specific designsoftware (i.e., CADD, Aspen, CAPE, ETAP), AutoCADD electrical.

PreferredQualifications

• Engineer In Training Certificate

• P.E. license

WorkingConditions:

• Work is primarily conducted in an officeenvironment (Private or Semi-Private Office) but also requires occasionaltravel to off-site work locations;

• Field duties require outdoor work in aconstruction site type atmosphere;

• Interaction with other team members, as wellas supervisors and client personnel;

• Working on a construction site or in plantand/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels

• Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection;

• May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes;

• May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis.

PhysicalRequirements (With or without Reasonable Accommodation):

• Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20)pounds;

• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing orother communication capabilities which permits employee to communicateeffectively;

• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;

• Sufficient vision or other powers ofobservation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;

• Sufficient manual dexterity which permit theemployee to perform routine office duties;

• Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexesto perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
