Packing Team Member (Long Island City, NY) at Magnolia Bakery – Long Island City, New York

What is the Role?

Position Summary: Uphold the core values of Magnolia Bakery and our mission statement while consistently presenting and promoting brand integrity, product quality and customer service standards. Work alongside packing team to efficiently package baked goods for nationwide shipping and local store support.

• Ensure all baked goods, merchandise, supplies, and other items are packed according to company specifications for nationwide shipping orders.
• Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment.
• Assist in determining shipping methods new products, using knowledge of shipping procedures.
• Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to packages for shipping.
• Measure, weigh, and count products and materials.
• Mark and label containers, container tags, or products, using marking tools.
• Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met.
• Confirm that appropriate delivery documentation is generated for each order.
• Responsible for set up of the production facility which includes cleaning, organizing, storing documents and general up keep.
• Work closely with Logistics Manager and General Manager to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or product that fail to meet company standard.

What are the physical demands?

• The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; sit and reach.
• The employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, crouch and climb a 10ft ladder.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision. Lift, pull, move, product weighing up to 50 lbs. on a daily basis, numerous times throughout the day.

What is Required?

• Hours of work for the position are approximately 40 hours per week. Must be available to work holidays and weekends.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
• Must be dependable.
• Clean and professional appearance.
• Follows policies and procedures as outlined in the Magnolia Bakery manuals.
• Takes directions well and hits the ground running, must be efficient and fast.
• Understands expectations of role and works within the boundaries of the role.
