Senior PMO Manager

This senior leadership role sits at the centre of complex programme delivery, ensuring strong governance, structure, and execution across multi-stream initiatives. You will be responsible for establishing and leading a high-performing PMO function that drives consistency, transparency, and control across the full project lifecycle. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, you will provide strategic insight, reporting, and assurance to enable effective decision-making. The role requires deep expertise in programme and portfolio management within large, matrixed environments. You will play a key role in strengthening delivery standards, improving governance frameworks, and enhancing operational efficiency. This is a high-impact position supporting critical transformation and long-term organisational success.

Accountabilities:
  • Establish, lead, and continuously improve PMO services supporting complex programmes and portfolios, ensuring alignment with recognised best practices and delivery standards
  • Design and implement robust governance frameworks, including stage gates, reporting structures, escalation routes, and assurance mechanisms
  • Develop and maintain integrated plans across project, programme, and portfolio levels to support forecasting, monitoring, and decision-making
  • Oversee risk, issue, and dependency management frameworks, ensuring clear ownership, escalation, and mitigation actions across all delivery streams
  • Support resource, capacity, and financial planning, including analysis of demand, utilisation, costs, and benefits tracking
  • Lead delivery assurance activities and provide high-quality data, reporting, and insights to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Manage change control processes, including impact assessments, governance adherence, and recommendations for mitigation strategies

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in senior PMO, programme, or portfolio management roles within complex, multi-stream environments
  • Strong expertise in PMO framework design, governance implementation, and continuous improvement practices
  • Solid understanding of programme and project management methodologies, tools, and delivery lifecycles (P3O or equivalent highly desirable)
  • Excellent stakeholder management, leadership, and influencing skills at senior and cross-functional levels
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in matrixed, fast-paced environments with multiple priorities
  • High-level problem-solving, decision-making, and organisational capability
