This role offers the opportunity to design, develop, and maintain critical software systems that support satellite operations and mission control. You will work on a web-based application and supporting microservices that enable spacecraft operators and analysts to monitor, control, and optimize satellite performance. The position involves building automation tools, APIs, and infrastructure to streamline operational workflows while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. Candidates will tackle complex engineering challenges, contribute to mission-critical systems, and improve the efficiency and reliability of satellite operations. This role is ideal for self-starters who enjoy problem-solving in a fast-paced environment and want to make a tangible impact on space-based operations.
Accountabilities:- Develop, maintain, and enhance the web-based Mission Control platform and its supporting microservices
- Design and implement HTTP APIs, evaluate software technologies, and deploy mission-critical infrastructure
- Automate operational workflows to reduce manual tasks for satellite operators and analysts
- Collaborate with Satellite Operations, Pipeline, Product, and other teams to ensure software meets operational requirements
- Participate in code reviews, maintain documentation, and follow best practices for testing and quality assurance
- Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, ensuring high reliability and uptime of mission-critical services
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of professional software development experience
- Proficiency in Python programming and API design
- Experience with relational databases (Postgres, MySQL, etc.) and Linux environments
- Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment workflows (e.g., GitLab CI, Docker)
- Strong problem-solving skills, self-starter mentality, and ability to work in a dynamic environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple teams
