The Mechanic - Intermodal will be responsible for completing quality preventative maintenance, special inspections and repairs on all company owned equipment; including chassis and trailers.Job Responsibilities:
- Inspect, analyze, troubleshoot, diagnose and perform minor and/or complex repairs on chassis and trailers in accordance with DOT, federal, and state regulations and C&K standards
- Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment to appropriate specifications; OEM, DOT, C&K, etc.
- Correct equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub- assemblies, components, parts, or systems
- Perform tire maintenance to include repairs, failure analysis, coding, identification
- Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed
- Order and receive parts and supplies as needed
- Adheres to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous wastes
- Clean, organize and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety
- Properly document all maintenance and labor performed
- Schedule: Monday - Friday; 9am - 5pm. Must be flexible on scheduling due to weather or other emergencies that arise.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
- Valid driver's license
- High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent vocational school
- Must possess at least 3 years of experience in repair and service of chassis and trailers
- Knowledge is mandatory of chassis and equipment theory, principles and repair
- Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures
- 1-year basic welding experience
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
