Kitchen Assistant - Daycare at Children's Nest Preschool and Daycare – Blacksburg, Virginia

Job Summary

We are looking for someone with kitchen experience to assist our kitchen manager with daily food prep and delivery to all classrooms. An ideal candidate will be available to work Monday-Friday from 8am-1:30pm.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Assisting with food and dish preparations.
• Maintaining a clean environment. This includes washing dishes, wiping down surfaces, and mopping floors.
• Delivering food to classrooms.
• Full understanding of food allergies and meal preferences for children.
• Daily responsibilities may include: cooking meals for a large group, cutting/chopping foods, preparing serving dishes, distributing food to classrooms, retrieving dirty dishes from classrooms, washing dishes, and cleaning work environment.

Qualifications and Skills

• Must be able to stand on feet for long periods
• Able to complete tasks quickly - can be a very fast moving position
• Communicate effectively with kitchen manager
• Enjoy working around children
• Knowledge of food and kitchen safety preferred
• Willing to become CPR/First Aid certified
• Understanding of food allergies
