About This Position
Safari Circuits, LLC., a leading electronics manufacturing services provider in Otsego, Michigan, seeks a dynamic VP of Commercial Development to drive revenue growth and expand the company’s market presence. This executive will lead commercial strategy, positioning Safari Circuits as the premier EMS partner for OEMs and technology companies. The ideal candidate will build and execute go-to-market strategies, cultivate new strategic customer relationships, and foster a culture of commercial excellence and accountability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth
- Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy to achieve revenue targets, expand market share, and diversify the customer base.
- Identify and pursue new market segments, verticals, and geographic opportunities for electronics manufacturing services.
- Build and manage a robust sales pipeline, establishing clear forecasting processes and accountability metrics across the commercial team.
- Drive pricing strategy, proposal development, and contract negotiations to maximize profitability and long-term customer value.
Business Development & Customer Acquisition
- Lead new customer and market acquisition efforts, including prospecting, qualifying, and closing design, development and contract manufacturing opportunities.
- Build and mentor a high-performing commercial team, including business development.
- Collaborate with marketing to develop brand positioning, trade show strategies, and lead generation programs that support commercial objectives.
Sales Operations & Market Intelligence
- Utilize CRM systems, sales analytics, and reporting tools to provide visibility into pipeline health, win/loss analysis, and commercial performance.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies in the EMS sector to inform strategic decision-making and identify growth opportunities, including strategic acquisitions.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- 15+ years of progressive experience in business development, sales, or supply chain management
- Strong strategic thinking, negotiation skills, and executive-level communication and presentation abilities
- Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams
- Background in strategic partnerships, M&A, global supply chain, or business development.
- Ability to manage strategic initiatives with limited oversight and high accountability
- Proven experience working with senior executives and cross‑functional teams.
Preferred:
- MBA or advanced degree in a related field
- Experience in the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) or contract manufacturing industry within Medical, Defense or Automotive markets
- Established network of OEM contacts and industry relationships in medical device, Defense, Aerospace, High reliability industrial or Automotive markets
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot), and supply chain management tools
