This role offers the opportunity to lead and perform third-party certification audits within the food industry, ensuring compliance with globally recognized standards. You will be responsible for evaluating management systems, reviewing audit evidence, and providing certification recommendations, while collaborating closely with audit teams. The position requires both technical expertise and practical judgment to assess conformity against established food safety standards. With frequent national and occasional international travel, you will engage with a variety of clients, helping them achieve and maintain high-quality and safe operational practices. This role also supports mentoring and training of junior auditors, contributing to the overall development of the certification function. The environment is fast-paced, professional, and highly standards-driven, with a focus on accuracy, integrity, and client satisfaction.
- Conduct certification audits in compliance with internal and sector-specific procedures and standards (e.g., FSSC22000, BRC, SQF)
- Evaluate audit evidence and make recommendations regarding certification or continued registration
- Apply and operate within the certification system consistently across all auditing activities
- Collaborate with teams of auditors to ensure thorough coverage of certification requirements
- Participate in witness audits conducted by accreditation bodies or internal teams
- Support the training and mentoring of junior auditors and contribute to continuous professional development
- Maintain audit credentials, documentation, and adhere to internal policies and procedures
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Bioscience, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in food industry management functions and quality assurance or food safety systems
- Certified Lead Auditor for relevant standards (FSSC, BRC, SQF) with proven auditing experience
- Advanced proficiency in English for communication, reporting, and presentations
- Strong technical knowledge of certification standards and their application
- Ability to make clear, well-founded decisions under pressure
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and multitasking skills
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time, including occasional international trips
