Fatherhood Specialist
Position Summary
The Fatherhood Specialist supports fathers and father figures by promoting positive parenting, strengthening family relationships, and increasing fathers’ involvement in the lives of their children.
The position focuses on outreach, case management, group facilitation, and collaboration with community partners to reduce barriers to father engagement. The position ensures fathers are recognized as critical partners in child development and school readiness.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Fatherhood Effect Grants Manager (Program Director) to ensure effective implementation of the grant and meet all prescribed outcomes and grant reporting requirements
- Develop a 12-session program for delivery to participating fathers based on the training and materials from 24/7 Dad
- Recruit, engage, and retain fathers in family support services
- Facilitate evidence‑based fatherhood and parenting workshops
- Increase fathers’ participation in classrooms, family activities, and decision‑making committees
- Facilitate father‑focused workshops, support groups, and family events
- Partner with teachers to integrate fathers into early learning activities
- Provide resources on child development, literacy, and positive discipline
- Provide appropriate resources and support to non‑custodial fathers and father figures
- Provide one‑on‑one coaching and goal-setting with fathers
- Support co‑parenting, healthy relationships, and responsible fatherhood practices
- Document services, outcomes, and participant progress in required databases
- Collaborate with case managers, social workers, and community partners to assist fathers with referrals related to employment, education, legal services, child support and reentry.
- Ensure services are culturally responsive and trauma‑informed
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, or related field
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with fathers, families, or at‑risk populations
- Strong group facilitation and motivational interviewing skills
- Knowledge of fatherhood issues, family dynamics, and community resources
- Ability to work flexible hours (evenings/weekends as needed)
- Complete significant training requirements as mandated by the standards of the 24/7 Dad curriculum model
- Ability to build trust with diverse families
- Experience with responsible fatherhood or reentry programs is preferred
- Lived experience as a father or father figure is preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is helpful
- Combination of office, school‑based, and outdoor settings. Exposure to seasonal weather conditions.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support organizational needs.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and work outdoors and indoors for extended periods.
- Regular use of computers and standard office equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Fast‑paced, multi‑site environment with varying noise levels.
