System Configuration Specialist, Ottawa at Securitas Technology Canada Corporation – Ottawa, Ontario

Reporting directly to the Regional Installation Manager, the System Configuration Specialist will be a key member of our team to configure, troubleshoot and maintain all mission critical systems. The individual work in conjunction with project teams and installation resources to ensure programming and configuration requirements are delivered within the project schedule. Act as the first line of defense in troubleshooting service requests to remotely diagnose, correct or determine the requirement for the deployment of a service technician.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation and servers, Hardware, software, networked peripheral devices, cabling and networking hardware and software products
• Follow and complete maintenance procedural documentation
• Use and understand the system delivered to the customer
• Act as an escalation point after-hours for critical troubleshooting requirements.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert for all mission critical systems
• Schedule and perform network and communication improvements, upgrades and repairs
• Support development and implementation of networking and communication projects and new technology installations
• Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network and communication component inventory
• Prepare, maintain, and adhere to procedures for logging, reporting and statistically monitoring network data
• Test and certify PC, networks, servers and client software applications and associated peripherals
• Prepare and ensure accuracy of documentation, procedures manuals, and help sheets for network installations, including date, voice, PC and video systems
• Aid in development of disaster recovery plans, and maintain current knowledge of plan executable. Respond to emergency network outages in accordance to business disaster recovery plans
• Assist the system engineer with drawing draft
• Perform remote diagnostics and troubleshooting for system issues
• Advise as to next steps in corrective action when remote fixes do not correct system functionality, including but not limited to patch applications, software upgrades, and/or onsite service requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

• College degree/diploma in computer programming
• VMware ESXi Virtual environments experience an asset
• Intrusion (GE NX8). C•CURE 9000 Advanced Integrator - AC9005, C•CURE 9000 Enterprise Architecture - AC9444, C•CURE 9000 System Installer/Maintainer - AC9001, Stratus everRun Enterprise Installation & Administration - AC2444, EXACQ Vision certification a strong asset
• MCSE: Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert a strong asset
• Knowledgeable in servers, Microsoft/Linux applications, and network protocol, configuration, and possess advanced PC support capability.
• Certification in networking protocols including Dell, Cisco, Microsoft, HP and CompTIA A+, Network+
• Experience in troubleshooting software and hardware problems on various equipment, including desktop and laptop computers, point of sale equipment, Enterprise servers, storage

devices (SAN), and networking devices (switches/routers)

• Telco exposure would be a plus (telephony/IP/wireless)
• Proven work experience Performing on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of network and communication problems for a variety of end users
• Implement corrective hardware and software solutions
• Must have strong communication skills; verbal, written, and analytical
