Job Description: The Sheriff’s Office is looking for skilled people who take pride in their work to join our team. As a Maintenance Tech you will be responsible for ensuring our facilities and equipment are operating at 100% daily. You are constantly working in a high security environment. We have a great team in place to train and assist you in learning the ins and outs of this position .Maintaining a positive attitude will ensure that you and the rest of the staff have a great experience from start to finish each day.
Required Qualifications:
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in a construction or maintenance trade, or a closely related field. SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards. Special skills or equipment certification may be required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to confined spaces. Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
Preferred Qualifications: Some experience in maintenance work (or related fields), basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and the ability to use hand and power tools. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and plumbing issues. Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
