Job Title: Assistant Project Manager – Steel Fabrication & Miscellaneous Metals
Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Locations: York, Pennsylvania or Richmond, Virginia
Compensation: $50,000 – $70,000 annually (based on experience)
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Additional hours, including occasional Saturdays, may be required depending on project needs.
Position Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of steel fabrication and erection projects, with a focus on miscellaneous metals. This position works closely with Project Managers to help drive coordination, documentation, and scheduling efforts from project kickoff through completion.

Key Responsibilities- Support coordination of fabrication and installation activities for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, joists, and metal decking
- Assist with detailing coordination and field surveying efforts
- Review construction drawings and specifications to aid in scope review and material takeoffs
- Help manage project timelines, submittals, and document tracking
- Contribute to preparation of schedules of values, invoicing support, and change order documentation
- Work with subcontractors and vendors to help align material deliveries and project schedules
- Participate in BIM coordination and clash detection sessions when required
- Maintain well-organized project records in both digital and physical formats
- Provide administrative and coordination support to Project Managers across multiple projects
- 1–3 years of experience in project coordination or project management, ideally within steel or construction environments
- 2- or 4-year post-secondary education preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Familiarity with scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera is a plus
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Basic understanding of steel construction materials, processes, and tools
- Willingness to learn and apply safety standards, quality practices, and cost control measures
- Ability to perform job-related calculations and assist with field verification when needed
- Work may involve exposure to construction site conditions, including dust, welding and paint fumes, and high noise levels
- Regular interaction with moving equipment and potential electrical hazards
- Approximately 15% travel required; mileage reimbursement provided
- Strong organizational and coordination skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Effective communicator who can collaborate across teams
