Job Overview:

The Opportunity: You will play a vital role in the financial health of a stable, 40-year-old general contracting firm by managing the intricate data behind our commercial and residential builds. This position offers the chance to take ownership of job cost accounting and support senior leadership in a solutions-driven, professional environment.

How You Will Make an Impact:

• Execute daily bookkeeping functions within QuickBooks Online to maintain real-time financial accuracy.

• Classify and enter job cost data meticulously, ensuring all expenses are coded to the correct projects and cost codes.

• Process accounts payable and subcontractor billings to ensure our trade partners are paid accurately and on time.

• Manage project-critical documentation including lien waivers, subcontractor compliance, and insurance certificates.

• Reconcile bank and credit card statements to ensure 100% alignment between project budgets and actual spend.

• Support the production of AIA billing and progress reports to facilitate steady cash flow for active construction sites.

• Coordinate with senior accounting staff during month-end close to provide organized digital and physical financial records.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• 2+ years of professional bookkeeping experience.

• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks (Online version required).

• Direct experience with job costing and tracking expenses via specific cost codes.

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data organization and reporting.

• Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines with extreme attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

• 3+ years of experience, specifically within the construction industry (General Contractor or Subcontractor).

• Familiarity with construction-specific accounting practices such as AIA billing, retainage, and progress billing.

• Knowledge of construction management software, such as Procore.

• Previous experience managing project budgets and generating cost reports.
