This role offers the opportunity to lead the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects across the SPP market, focusing on solar, wind, and battery storage initiatives. The Development Manager will oversee projects from greenfield identification to financial close, coordinating cross-functional teams and external consultants to ensure timely and successful execution. The position emphasizes stakeholder engagement, including landowners, regulatory agencies, and local communities, while supporting corporate strategy and pipeline growth. The role requires strategic thinking, project management expertise, and strong relationship-building skills. Frequent travel within the market will be required to foster partnerships and advance project objectives. Success will be measured by progress toward project milestones, FNTP, and a robust regional pipeline.

Accountabilities:
  • Implement regional strategies to identify, evaluate, and develop renewable energy projects from initial site selection to financial close
  • Lead negotiations for land agreements, permitting, and development-related contracts
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, technical activities, and consultant management throughout the development lifecycle
  • Engage with landowners, community stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to ensure positive relationships and project support
  • Collaborate with internal teams on resource assessments, environmental studies, interconnection, and permitting requirements
  • Support origination, finance, and engineering teams with off-take analyses, financial modeling, and preparation for construction
  • Maintain and track an active project pipeline, presenting progress, risks, and investment recommendations to leadership

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing development projects in renewable energy, power generation, or utilities
  • Demonstrated expertise in project planning, permitting, land agreements, or financial and technical development
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing external consultants
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with industry-specific tools preferred
  • Self-motivated, capable of independent and collaborative work
  • Willingness and ability to travel 30–50% within the region and work on undeveloped land as needed
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with a safe driving record
