Position Summary
The Sanitation Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized production environment by washing, cleaning, and sanitizing all production batching, filling, and kitchen equipment, including pots, pans, and utensils, in accordance with company sanitation standards and GMP guidelines. This role ensures proper stock levels of cleaning chemicals and supplies, operates equipment such as scales, mixers, forklifts, pallet movers, and drum lifts, and follows all company safety policies and procedures. The Sanitation Technician supports operational efficiency by maintaining sanitation readiness for production while demonstrating reliability, teamwork, and flexibility to work overtime or weekends as needed to meet customer and production requirements.
Core Responsibilities
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of department area and equipment.
• Wash, clean and sanitize all production batching and filling equipment.
• Wash, clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, pots & pans and utensils.
• Insure proper stock levels of chemicals and supplies are readily available as needed by communicating with management.
• Operate large scales, small balances, mixers, forklifts and other electric pallet movers and drum lifts.
• Follow prescribed safety policies as established by the company.
• Demonstrate willingness to work overtime as required. Available for weekend hours work schedules if needed to fulfill customer requirements.
Maintain Cleanliness & Sanitation
- Wash, clean, and sanitize all production and kitchen equipment, pots, pans, and utensils according to SOPs. Deliverable: Achieve 100% compliance on weekly sanitation audits conducted by Quality Assurance.
Chemical & Supply Management
- Ensure proper stock levels of cleaning chemicals and supplies. Communicate shortages proactively. Deliverable: Maintain inventory accuracy of ≥95%, with zero incidents of production delays due to missing supplies.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate large scales, small balances, mixers, forklifts, electric pallet movers, and drum lifts safely. Deliverable: Complete monthly equipment checks with zero safety violations or equipment misuse incidents.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow company safety policies and adhere to GMP and SOP guidelines. Deliverable: Maintain zero recordable safety incidents each quarter and pass all regulatory inspections without critical findings.
Attendance & Reliability
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and completion of work assignments, including overtime and weekend shifts if required. Deliverable: Achieve ≥95% attendance rate and complete assigned cleaning tasks within scheduled production windows.
Teamwork & Communication
- Collaborate with team members, share new ideas for process improvement, and communicate effectively with management. Deliverable: Participate in monthly team improvement meetings and implement at least one process improvement suggestion per quarter.
Required Qualifications
- Sanitation training/certification or willingness to obtain.
- Understanding of SOPs, GMPs, and food safety protocols.
- Experience in food manufacturing or production facilities.
- High attention to detail.
- Basic mechanical knowledge of mixing and weighing equipment.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Fit to wear a cartridge respirator.
Physical Demands
- Medium physical activity: lift up to 50 lbs frequently, move up to 100 lbs occasionally, and maneuver drums (~440 lbs).
- Stand for extended periods and work flexible hours and shifts.
