Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Infrastructure & Data Platform Engineer in United Kingdom.
This role sits at the core of a fast-scaling digital HealthTech environment supporting clinical trials and life sciences. You will take ownership of a modern cloud and data platform that underpins a secure, reliable, and scalable product used in regulated healthcare contexts. Acting as a key technical authority, you will shape infrastructure strategy, strengthen operational maturity, and ensure systems are resilient, observable, and audit-ready. The role combines hands-on engineering with architectural ownership across cloud infrastructure, data platforms, DevOps, and security. You will work closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams to embed reliability and developer experience into every layer of the system. This is a high-impact position where your decisions directly influence platform stability, compliance, and scalability. It offers the opportunity to build and evolve mission-critical systems in a mission-driven, high-growth environment.
- Own and operate cloud infrastructure on GCP, including networking, IAM, compute, storage, and managed services, ensuring secure, scalable, and cost-efficient environments.
- Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform), ensuring consistency and repeatability across systems and deployments.
- Take ownership of the data platform, including data stores, pipelines, access patterns, and governance to ensure reliability and usability across product and analytics use cases.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, release processes, and DevOps tooling to enable safe and efficient software delivery.
- Define and implement observability standards, including monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, and incident response processes.
- Lead operational resilience efforts, including backup strategies, disaster recovery testing, incident management, and post-mortem analysis.
- Own infrastructure-level security, including IAM, secrets management, network controls, and support for audits and penetration testing.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to embed reliability, security, and best practices into everyday development workflows.
- Strong hands-on experience operating production infrastructure on GCP.
- Proven ability to design and manage data platforms in production environments.
- Deep understanding of cloud security principles, including IAM, networking, and access controls.
- Experience with incident response, on-call operations, and post-incident reviews.
- Practical experience designing and executing backup, recovery, and disaster resilience strategies.
- Experience supporting security audits and coordinating penetration testing activities.
- Strong proficiency with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform).
- Experience managing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling to support developer workflows.
- Background in regulated environments or health-tech is a plus, but strong fundamentals are essential.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A pragmatic, ownership-driven mindset with a focus on reliability, security, and continuous improvement.
- Gross salary: £75,000 – £82,000 per year
- 28 days annual leave plus public holidays
- £500 annual training and development budget
- £200 home working setup budget (one-off)
- Up to 6% employer pension contribution (salary sacrifice)
- EMI share options
- Flexible working with core hours
- Enhanced parental and family leave policies
