About This Position

The Northampton Public Schools is seeking a Cafeteria Assistant at JFK Middle School!
25 hours per week
5 hours per day on school days

DEFINITION:
Assisting with preparation and service of food to students and maintenance of kitchens within the Northampton Public Schools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs a variety of food service activities at the school site including; but not limited to; operating the POS system; meal accountability; assists cook and other cafeteria assistants with meal preparation; and service; cleaning and dishes. Meets all standards of local; state and federal health and USDA meal regulations.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous food service experience required
  • Current Servsafe certification is desirable

Physical Requirements: Constant moderate physical effort required in performing duties. Employee is regularly required to sit; to stand; to walk; to go up and down stairs; to carry objects; to reach above the head and to bend and reach below the waist and operate foot and hand controls; and to write. Must be able to frequently lift or move 30 to 50 pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound; near and far vision and depth perception.
MISC. INFORMATION: Location: JFK Middle School

Hourly Pay Rate: $20.25 - $24.06 (FY26 pay rates are currently in negotiations).

25 hours per week
5 hours per day on school days

This position has full benefits and privileges consistent with the Northampton Association of School Employees (NASE) Cafeteria Unit G Collective Bargaining Agreement Contract.

Must have acceptable MA CORI and SAFIS Fingerprint Background Checks prior to start of employment.
