Title: UNMC Nursing RN Student Intern/Extern

Reporting Relationship: Clinical Nurse Manager

General Summary of Responsibilities:

• Provide summer learning experience for pre-professional students in their last summer prior to graduation or post-graduate education
• Demonstrate understanding and competency in technical skills and procedures
• Apply sound judgement through the nursing process in the management of patient care
• Establish therapeutic rapport with patients and families
• Foster collaborative relationships with coworkers, physicians, and ancillary department members
• Demonstrate the ability to function as a team member in the healthcare community
• Develop a framework of integrated care of the patient as part of the health care continuum

Education: High School graduate or equivalent and expected graduation from an accredited registered nursing program the following calendar year

Experience:

Required:

• Current enrollment in an Accredited Nursing Program

Preferred:

• Current Nurse Aide Certification in the State of Nebraska

Licensure: BLS for Healthcare workers

Must be able to attend Mandatory Hospital Orientation on TBD
