We are a dedicated, experienced team of digital marketing analysts who work closely with our clients every step of the way to provide a deep knowledge of their business, competitors, and industry. Position Summary

The Senior SEO Manager position is mostly independent and regularly pushes the team forward. Senior SEO Managers, with limited support of the Director or SEO Team Lead:

Develop strategies and tactics that support client goals and drive strong organic marketing performance Build and maintain strong, deep client relationships with day-to-day contacts and senior stakeholders to ensure high client retention and growth Troubleshoot minor to complicated client issues independently and complex issues with support Implement and test new capabilities to enable client growth

In addition, Senior SEO Managers:

Lead junior analysts on certain accounts Train new hires on basic and standard concepts Aid in the training of new hires on basic and standard concepts relating to SEO and GEOIdentify opportunities to integrate AI into existing SEO workflows to improve team-wide efficiency.Provide support for client services deliverables during the sales process for upsells and new businessResponsibilitiesDevelop strategies and tactics that support client goals and drive strong organic marketing performanceBuild and maintain strong, deep client relationships with day-to-day contacts and senior stakeholders to ensure high client retention and growthTroubleshoot minor to complicated client issuesImplement and test new capabilities to enable client growthSupport the Director or Team Leads in the training of new team membersProvide temporary support and contribute to client services deliverables during the business development process for upsells and new business

Client communication and relationships

Develop strong relationships with clients and senior stakeholdersAttend and participate in all meetings/calls with clientsCommunicate effectively with various audiences with occasional supportCreate and present insightful, meaningful, accurate reports and analysis with with support on complex issuesExecute the Workshop Digital client flag process and proactively identify resolutionsGo the extra mile for assigned clients within the scope of the SOW

Internal communication and relationships

Proactively seek and gracefully accept feedbackTactfully share feedback with colleaguesImmediately inform the Director or SEO Team Lead of any concerns or issues from clients when appropriateInform the Director or SEO Team Lead of any updates, concerns, or potential points of interest from within the digital marketing communityShare meaningful information that advances the teamParticipate in the interview processLead special projects with support

Business development

Identify new opportunities for clients to meet their business goalsIndependently identify opportunities for potential case studies and coordinate with marketing for case study developmentManage beta tests of new services for client setSupport the sales team by assisting with RFPs, presentations, audits, and SOWs Elevate client requests for SOW changes with minimal support

Training

Regularly identify opportunities to update and expand training contentRegularly develop original technical training content with QARegularly conduct team trainings to help develop team expertiseRead industry blogs, books, whitepapers, and articles to stay current on relevant tactics, updates, and best practicesOccasionally contribute thought leadership content to the Workshop Digital blog and the industryServe as a mentor for junior team members

Channel management

Optimize client websites through a blend of technical and content updates with minimal support on complex issuesPerform keyword research, analyze and report on competitor and keyword data to clients with minimal support on complex issuesClaim, update, optimize, and manage local listings for clients with minimal support on complex issuesWrite, optimize, and syndicate content on behalf of clients with minimal support on complex issuesGenerate and plan content ideas for clients including blog ideas, articles, or any other content with minimal support on complex issuesConduct comprehensive technical, content, and local audits with minimal support on complex issuesOptimize client websites through conversion rate optimization (CRO) with minimal support on complex issuesCreate and prioritize strategies and supporting tactics that embody clients’ business goals with minimal support on complex issuesTake ownership and accountability of client's performance by meeting and exceeding client expectations and set KPIs with minimal support on complex issuesSetup and review Google Analytics (and any other third-party tracking software) with minimal support on complex issuesIdentify potential threats, changes in landscape, industry updates, and potential opportunities for client accounts and present these to clients with minimal support on complex issuesConduct ongoing tests that drive towards growth and achieving client goals with minimal support on complex issuesTemporarily take on extra client hours to support the team during times of limited bandwidthQualifications5+ years of experience executing hands-on SEO work for high complexity clientsDemonstrated ability handling complex and challenging clients with respect to:Identifying revenue-impacting KPIs and setting SMART KPI goalsExtensive keyword research acumen that is leveraged in developing thoughtful and forward-thinking content strategyPrioritizing workload with minimal supportBuilding strong relationshipsCreating insightful, actionable, and accurate insights for client strategies and reports with minimal supportPresenting data and insights in a way that is logical, clear, and actionable with minimal supportCreating effective meeting agendas and leading client meetings with minimal supportDelivering core trainingLogging assigned client hours workedMeeting deadlinesAdvanced and courteous written, verbal, and visual communication skillsFamiliarity with AI-native search engines and LLM-based research tools (e.g., Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, or ChatGPT).Demonstrated ability to evaluate AI output for "hallucinations" or inaccuracies, specifically regarding technical SEO recommendations and data reportingAdvanced analytical capabilities; rarely needs support for advanced analysis and insightsOccasionally provides training to other team membersSometimes identifies and implements initiatives that push the team and the company forwardAdvanced level skills in MS Office Suite and Google Suite, particularly in Excel and Google SheetsBenefitsCompetitive salaries25 days PTO, 5 days STO, 12 HolidaysHybrid workspace for Richmonders (only Mondays are required)3 months fully paid Parental Leave8 hours of paid volunteer time per quarter401k with 3% non-elective contributionsA comprehensive health benefit package, including 2 medical plans, dental, and vision insuranceLife insurance, short-term, and long-term disability Profit sharing 2x a year company-wide meetup in Richmond, VACommittee Membership (Community, Culture, Health & Wellness)
