Position Summary

As a Warehouse Specialist under general to minimal supervision and using standard operating procedures while following work instructions, one must be able to safely perform a variety of warehousing and shipping & receiving du es that require an understanding of basic warehouse storage plans / warehouse inventory systems / materials issuance plans / shipping and receiving procedures. Work involves storage / handling / shipping / receiving / storeroom issues / and returns.

Responsibilities:

• Perform security screening on all inbound materials utilizing an x-ray system.

• Verifying materials against receiving and purchasing documents.

• Noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages.

• Routing/staging materials to prescribed storage locations.

• Storing, stacking or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage / shipping methods.

• Rearranging and taking inventory of equipment / materials kept in storeroom stock on a monthly basis.

• Examining stored equipment / materials and reporting deterioration and damage.

• Removing equipment / material from storage and preparing it for shipment.

• Operating hand or power trucks.

• Operating Forklifts as required.

• Keeping records and performing data entry of information on equipment / material transactions in a warehouse inventory system.

• Ensuring that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles.

• Processing all outbound shipments in accordance with DOT regulations.

• Processing all outbound hazardous shipments in accordance with DOT regulations and Chemtrec / HAZMAT procedures.

• Prepares shipping and receiving reports on a daily / monthly basis.

• Other duties as assigned to insure timely project execution.

• Maintaining facilities in clean, safe, and orderly condition.

• Organizing interior and exterior of warehouse and other facilities.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

• Maintain valid U.S. driver’s license.

• Good written and verbal communication skills and excellent attention to detail are required.

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft computer systems and so ware programs for administrative duties such as email and data entry are required. (Excel & Outlook)

• Must have the ability to maintain site specific, forklift operator, DOT (49 CFR - Hazardous Material Transportation), Quality Assurance/Quality Control certification.

• Such positions may involve routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling, and carrying.

• Constant use of vision and mental alertness is required.

• Position may require long periods of standing.

Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• High school diploma or GED/TASC/ HiSET.

• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in warehouse operations, property management, inventory control, or related work experience.

• Working knowledge of purchasing/receiving software.

• Working Knowledge of Warehouse Inventory software.

• Knowledge of applicable State and Federal laws and company policies and procedures.

Work Environment:

Most positions involve work in environments (e.g., projects, labs, outside locations, etc. where mechanical equipment, is being installed, tested, analyzed, monitored, or operated and / or maintained. Equipment may be loud and noisy and or have exposed moving components.
