Title: Assistant Professor and Program/Clinical Coordinator - Diagnostic Vascular Sonography

General Summary: The Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for Diagnostic Vascular Sonography is a full-time faculty position responsible for the academic leadership, instruction, and administration of the Associate Degree Diagnostic Vascular Sonography program. The coordinator ensures program compliance with institutional requirements, clinical partner expectations, and accreditation standards established by CAAHEP and the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS).

The coordinator provides oversight of curriculum, faculty, clinical education, and program assessment while teaching within the program and fulfilling all contractual faculty responsibilities. This position includes reassigned time each semester to support coordination duties.

As part of launching a new program at the College, this role offers a unique opportunity to develop the Diagnostic Vascular Sonography Program. During the program's inaugural year, the faculty member will focus primarily on program development and implementation efforts, including curriculum development, accreditation alignment, development of clinical site partnerships, etc.. This foundational work will ensure the program is positioned for long-term excellence and student success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Instruction and Faculty Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned courses within the Diagnostic Vascular Sonography program consistent with contractual workload.
  • Provide didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction aligned with program competencies.
  • Maintain current clinical expertise, professional credentials, and instructional effectiveness.
  • Participate in professional development and maintain required certifications.
  • Support student advising, retention, and success initiatives.

Program Coordination and Academic Leadership:

  • Consistent with accreditation expectations for program directors and coordinators:
  • Provide leadership for the daily operation, organization, and effectiveness of the program.
  • Oversee curriculum planning, implementation, and periodic review to ensure alignment with professional standards and workforce needs.
  • Maintain program policies, procedures, and student progression requirements.
  • Lead program assessment processes including monitoring enrollment, retention, credentialing outcomes, and graduate placement.
  • Prepare accreditation documentation, annual reports, and self-study materials.
  • Maintain documentation demonstrating compliance with accreditation and regulatory expectations.

Clinical Education and Employer Partnerships:

  • Coordinate clinical education experiences and monitor student clinical progression.
  • Ensure clinical experiences provide sufficient diagnostic examinations and competencies for vascular sonography practice.
  • Maintain relationships with clinical affiliates and evaluate site effectiveness.
  • Orient clinical instructors and maintain communication regarding program expectations.
  • Collaborate with employer partners to align curriculum with workforce needs.

Faculty Supervision and Program Operations:

  • Recruit, orient, and mentor adjunct faculty.
  • Schedule and facilitate program faculty meetings.
  • Coordinate laboratory resources, equipment acquisition, and maintenance.
  • Assist with program budget planning and ordering of instructional materials.
  • Collaborate with division leadership and related programs.

Program Development and External Engagement:

  • Maintain a program advisory committee representing communities of interest, including healthcare employers and physicians.
  • Coordinate advisory meetings and integrate feedback into program planning.
  • Support recruitment, outreach, and partnership development.
  • Participate in grant development, workforce initiatives, and program expansion where appropriate.
  • Represent the program in college, community, and professional venues.

College Service:

  • Serve on departmental, divisional, and college committees.
  • Participate in institutional assessment and governance processes.
  • Collaborate with student support services including advising, tutoring, and enrollment management.
  • Perform additional duties related to the program as assigned by the Dean.


Job Requirements:

In alignment with accreditation expectations for program leadership and clinical coordination:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Vascular Technology, or related field.
  • Current credential in vascular sonography (e.g., RVT, RVS, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer.
  • Demonstrated experience in instruction, supervision, or student evaluation.
  • Knowledge of curriculum design, assessment, and clinical education.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a diverse educational environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a health or education field.
  • Teaching experience in higher education or allied health programs.
  • Experience with accreditation standards, outcomes reporting, and program review.
  • Experience developing clinical partnerships or workforce initiatives.
  • Experience supervising faculty or coordinating academic programs.


Additional Information:

Please note, the faculty rank of Assistant Professor may be subject to change in accordance with Article XVII of the MCCC Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Salary Range: $58,722 is the starting salary for an Assistant Professor with a Bachelor's Degree; actual salary commensurate with academic background and experience.
