Overview

Laboratory Services is seeking a detail-oriented Analytical Chemist Lab to support submarine construction programs and to comply with state and federal requirements. A background in analytical chemistry techniques (X-Ray Fluorescence, ICP-OES/MS, Benchtop Wet Chemistry, Water Analysis, Oil Analysis, Acid Etching etc.) is a plus. The candidate will be required to frequently access Shipyard Construction areas. This work can be physically demanding requiring the individual to carry sampling equipment throughout the shipyard and aboard submarines in all weather conditions. The individual must be capable of entering confined and enclosed spaces, able to climb ladders and stairs and able to work at heights.



Responsibilities

  • Proficient in the use of standard laboratory equipment and techniques
  • Experience with water, oil, metals analysis a plus
  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work effectively as a team
  • Experience with various analytical software and proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Requires frequent unassisted lifting of various sampling equipment and walking to various sample locations


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field or High School Diploma/GED and equivalent Navy experience (ELT)

Preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory
