We are looking for a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join our team in our office in Sherwood Park, Alberta. this position will be both in the office and require site visits as well.
Full Time, permanent position.
Duties/Responsibilities
Technical
- Promote, demonstrate, and instill Company safety culture in all aspects of the business.
- Communicate Maxx North America Services Ltd. (“Maxx’s”) safety vision, and manage the process while inspiring, motivating, and leading people toward achieving and exceeding safety goals.
- Conduct weekly inspections and observations of work areas and liaise with Managers, Supervisors and the workers relating to matters of Health, Safety, and Environment.
- Attend and participate in morning tailgate meetings when onsite.
- Provide trending topics, and evaluate the toolbox & weekly Safety meetings, providing instructive guidance to the Supervisors conducting the meetings.
- Ensure that all requirements of the Health and Safety Program are being carried out by all project personnel, including management, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and other parties working on or visiting the project site.
- Track all deficiencies and follow up on corrective action.
- Review and provide feedback to Managers, Supervisors and Crew on hazard assessment and risk assessment documentation and areas of improvement through weekly inspections reports.
- Monitors field compliance with company procedures and processes through electronic programs (SiteDocs).
- Monitor, evaluate, and act on all sub-standard conditions and work practices.
- Provide support and direction to the field crews in the use of Site Docs, Samsara, Work Hub, Dropbox and other training portals.
- Assist with maintaining electronic record keeping for all site-specific training activities.
- Assist with yearly audits, and periodic audits including potentially hazardous work areas, practices, procedures, and process operations.
- emergency plans.
- Coordinate and participate in the development and testing of home office and site-specific systems.
- Coordinate, prepare, and assign orientations to new hires as required.
- Report safety issues and concerns that may require involvement or attention.
- Assist with the completion and submission of incident investigations and reports.
- Track and maintains site incident trends and statistics.
- Participates in building, reviewing, and administering company policies.
- Promote HSE awareness and responsibility through safety meetings, communications, and training programs.
- Present information and assist with training current operations and personnel on company related safety procedures.
- Management of injury case management when required.
- Provide post-incident support by maintaining regular communication with employees following an injury.
- Assist with the Implementation and tracking of the Job Hazard Analysis program and Safety Incentive Programs.
- Office and shop/yard monthly inspections.
Health Safety & Environmental
- Provide staffing plans that adhere to Maxx’s “hours of work” protocols.
- Incident Management responsibilities:
- Record all incidents to ensure safety reports are filled out in a timely manner.
- Coach and mentor staff in conducting incident reviews and developing actions to prevent recurrence.
- Participate in lessons learned sessions to prevent recurrence.
- Conduct root cause analysis to support a proactive approach to safety.
Team & Leadership
- Promote Maxx’s values, Safety, Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect
- Maintain consistent communication with field HSE representation to ensure office and field are aligned.
- Provide a safe, supportive environment while demonstrating leadership that promotes strong morale and integrity.
- At the project interface level (Maxx HSE to Client HSE), work with all HSE professionals to manage issues and resolve non-compliance events.
- Demonstrate fairness and cooperation to earn trust, support peers and encourage collaboration to encourage communication.
- Be a liaison with MAXX management and workers on the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
