What the role is about:

The Lab Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the cannabis processing laboratory, including extraction, distillation, vape cartridge production, and edible manufacturing. This role ensures production targets are met while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory requirements, safety standards, and internal quality control procedures.

The Lab Supervisor leads a team of technicians and operators, coordinates production schedules, and ensures accurate recordkeeping within the company’s ERP and seed-to-sale tracking systems. The position plays a critical role in maintaining product consistency, operational efficiency, and compliance with all applicable cannabis regulations.

What impact you'll make:

Production Oversight

  • Supervise day-to-day processing operations including extraction, distillation, vape cartridge production, and edible manufacturing.

  • Coordinate daily production schedules to meet manufacturing targets and maintain workflow efficiency.

  • Monitor batch progress and ensure proper execution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Oversee pre-production setup, equipment preparation, and post-production cleanup procedures.

  • Ensure production documentation and batch records are completed accurately and on time.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, train, and supervise processing technicians and operators.

  • Assign daily tasks and ensure staff understand production priorities and safety protocols.

  • Provide coaching and performance feedback to improve team productivity and technical competency.

  • Assist in onboarding and training new processing staff on equipment, SOPs, and compliance requirements.

Compliance & Recordkeeping

  • Ensure all processing activities comply with state cannabis regulations and internal quality standards.

  • Verify accurate batch tracking within seed-to-sale systems (e.g., METRC) and ERP platforms.

  • Maintain detailed production logs, extraction batch records, and formulation documentation.

  • Assist with regulatory inspections, internal audits, and compliance reviews.

Quality Control

  • Monitor production processes to ensure consistent product quality and potency.

  • Ensure all finished products meet internal specifications and testing requirements prior to packaging.

  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance to investigate deviations, discrepancies, or production issues.

  • Implement corrective actions when needed to maintain product integrity.

Equipment & Facility Management

  • Oversee proper operation of extraction equipment, distillation systems, edible production equipment, and vape filling machinery.

  • Coordinate equipment maintenance schedules and report mechanical issues to maintenance teams.

  • Ensure processing areas are maintained in accordance with sanitation and GMP standards.

Safety

  • Enforce workplace safety procedures and proper use of PPE in all processing environments.

  • Ensure safe handling of solvents, chemicals, and processing materials.

  • Identify and mitigate potential safety risks within the processing lab.

What you've accomplished:

  • 3–5 years of experience in cannabis processing, extraction, or manufacturing operations.

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in a production environment preferred.

  • Experience with extraction, distillation systems, vape cartridge filling, and edible production processes.

  • Strong understanding of cannabis regulatory compliance and seed-to-sale tracking systems.

  • Experience with ERP systems or production management software preferred.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Technical Knowledge

  • Extraction systems

  • Cannabis distillation and refinement processes

  • Vape cartridge filling and hardware handling

  • Edible formulation and production workflows

  • GMP sanitation and laboratory safety practices

  • Cannabis regulatory compliance and inventory tracking systems

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods in a production environment.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

  • Ability to work in laboratory and kitchen production environments with appropriate PPE.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in multi-product cannabis labs producing concentrates, vapes, and infused edibles.

  • Familiarity with GMP manufacturing environments.

  • Experience managing production KPIs and batch efficiency metrics.

The salary for this position is 60-65k annually. Competitive health, dental, vision, life, and 401k insurance benefits offered.
