Optometrist

About the Practice Travers LASIK Vision Care is a respected, boutique refractive surgery practice dedicated to delivering exceptional visual outcomes and an elevated patient experience. We are seeking a clinically strong, patient-centered Optometrist to join our surgical team and provide comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care in close collaboration with the surgeon and fellow optometrist. This role is ideal for a doctor who values precision, meaningful patient relationships, and practicing in a focused surgical environment with intentionally lower patient volume to allow for thoughtful care and thorough counseling. Schedule • Approximately 4.5 clinical days per week • Plus 1–2 short Saturdays per month (1–1.5 hours each) • Structured yet flexible scheduling within a surgical-focused model Core Responsibilities • Conduct comprehensive refractive surgery evaluations with advanced diagnostic interpretation • Determine surgical candidacy for LASIK, PRK, and related refractive procedures • Provide detailed pre-operative education and clear, confident counseling • Deliver attentive post-operative management and proactively address patient concerns • Perform monovision demonstrations and presbyopia solution discussions • Identify and manage ocular surface disease to optimize surgical outcomes • Support patients through elective decision-making with professionalism and integrity • Collaborate closely with surgeon and fellow optometrist to ensure continuity of care • Maintain thorough, organized chart documentation • Contribute positively within a small, high-performing clinical team Qualifications • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree • Active North Carolina optometry license (required) • Experience in refractive or surgical optometry preferred • Confidence in a surgical setting and comfort managing post-operative care • Exceptional communication and patient counseling skills • Professional, polished, and compassionate demeanor • Strong team orientation within a boutique clinical environment Compensation & Benefits • Base salary range: $140,000 – $180,000 annually (based on experience) • Monthly discretionary bonus aligned with overall clinic performance and success • Comprehensive health insurance • Retirement plan with employer contribution • Paid time off (full-time position) • Continuing education support • Malpractice coverage
