The Impact You Will Have
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is seeking a talented Automation Engineer to join our IT & Automation team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-level automation solutions using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools, including Automation Anywhere and Microsoft Power Automate.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in RPA development and platform management, with a proven ability to streamline business processes, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce costs through automation. This position requires expertise in building scalable automation solutions, collaborating with business stakeholders, and ensuring best practices in automation design and deployment.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in RPA development and platform management, with a proven ability to streamline business processes, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce costs through automation. This position requires expertise in building scalable automation solutions, collaborating with business stakeholders, and ensuring best practices in automation design and deployment.
Your Responsibilities
- Design, develop and deploy RPA solutions using Automation Anywhere/ Power Automate to automate manual, repetitive, and time-consuming tasks.
- Analyze existing business processes and identify automation opportunities to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Create detailed process documentation and design workflows for automation solutions.
- Develop reusable automation components to ensure efficiency and scalability.
- Ensure adherence to best coding practices and maintainability of automation scripts.
- Manage and maintain the Automation Anywhere and Power Automate environments, ensuring smooth operation and scalability of RPA infrastructure.
- Monitor the performance of bots and handle any troubleshooting, debugging, or enhancements required to ensure robust performance.
- Conduct regular platform upgrades, patches, and ensure system compatibility with ongoing business needs.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery planning, and execution of RPA solutions.
- Identify new opportunities to optimize and enhance existing automation solutions and RPA platforms.
- Stay updated on the latest RPA trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve automation capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and IT teams to gather automation requirements, validate processes, and ensure successful delivery of automation solutions.
- Lead technical discussions and present automation ideas and benefits to stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Develop testing frameworks to ensure proper QA of all automation projects, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Ensure all automation solutions meet internal compliance and governance standards, with proper documentation and version control.
- Maintain security best practices in RPA implementations and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.
- Engage with stakeholders to continuously assess and refine automation strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Required Skills and Experience
- 4+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
- Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or higher
- Amazon AWS Cloud Practitioner or higher
- Experience in RPA development with Automation Anywhere and Microsoft Power Automate
- Expertise in building end-to-end RPA solutions and automations for various business processes (e.g., data extraction, form processing, system integrations, OCR).
- Strong knowledge of process automation tools, scripts, and workflow management.
- Proven experience in managing and maintaining RPA platforms.
- Familiarity with platform administration tasks such as upgrades, environment configuration, and performance monitoring.
- Ability to troubleshoot platform and bot-related issues effectively.
- Proficiency in one of the scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or PowerShell to extend automation capabilities.
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, data integration, and working with databases (SQL).
- Experience with process design, optimization, and working in agile environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for automation.
- Experience with AI/ML integrations within automation solutions.
- Experience working in a cloud environment (Azure/AWS) for automation deployments.
- Strong curiosity and willingness to challenge the status quo.
- High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.
