About the role

  • Les Olson IT has successfully operated a Structured Cabling division for over four years, and we’re now expanding into physical security by adding burglar alarm installation services. We’re seeking an experienced Alarm Installation Professional who meets Utah Department of Professional Licensing requirements to serve as our Burglar Alarm Qualifying Agent. This individual will play a key role in guiding the development of this new division, working closely with and supported by our team of skilled cabling technicians.

What you'll do

  • Install alarm systems, security cameras, and door access systems in commercial settings, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations
  • Test all installed systems thoroughly to confirm full functionality and reliability
  • Provide comprehensive training to customers on the operation and features of their alarm systems
  • Deliver attentive, professional customer service that reflects Les Olson IT’s reputation for excellence
  • Collaborate with the project design team to review and improve alarm installation plans based on your expertise
  • Guide and mentor team members on best practices for installing alarm systems, door access controls, and security cameras

Qualifications

  • Must meet Utah State criteria for licensure as a Burglar Alarm Qualifying Agent:
    • At least 6,000 hours (3 years) working for a licensed alarm company within the past 10 years
    • At least 2,000 hours (1 year) in a supervisory or managerial role
    • Successfully passed or willing to take the Utah Burglar Alarm Qualifier Exam and Utah Burglar Alarm Security Laws and Rules Exam
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to explain systems to non-technical customers
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with a clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
  • Scissor and boom lift experience preferred
