About the Role:
The Quality Control Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring that all machined parts and products meet stringent quality standards before they reach the customer. This position involves conducting thorough final inspections and first article inspections to verify dimensional accuracy and adherence to specifications. The inspector will utilize precision measurement tools such as micrometers and optical comparators to assess product quality and identify any deviations. Maintaining detailed documentation and performing visual inspections are essential to support quality control processes and continuous improvement initiatives. Ultimately, this role ensures that only products meeting the highest quality standards are approved for delivery, thereby safeguarding customer satisfaction and company reputation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years' of proven experience in quality control inspection, specifically with machined parts.
- Proficiency in using precision measurement instruments such as micrometers and optical comparators.
- Strong understanding of first article inspection and final inspection processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Quality Control or related field (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector).
- Experience with document control systems and quality management software.
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and root cause analysis techniques.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing or machining environment.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Responsibilities:
- Perform final inspections on machined oilfield service and completion tools and materials, to verify compliance with engineering drawings and quality standards.
- Conduct first article inspections to validate new or modified production processes and parts.
- Utilize precision measurement tools including micrometers and optical comparators to measure product dimensions accurately.
- Document inspection results thoroughly and maintain organized records for quality control and audit purposes.
- Identify and report non-conformances or defects, collaborating with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
- Perform visual inspections to detect surface defects, finish quality, and other visual criteria.
- Ensure compliance with all company quality control procedures and safety regulations.
Skills:
Required skills such as final inspection, first article inspection, and QC inspection are applied daily to verify that products meet all specified requirements and quality standards.
Proficiency with measurement tools like micrometers and optical comparators enables precise dimensional verification critical to product acceptance.
Visual inspection skills help identify surface defects and ensure aesthetic quality, while document control expertise ensures accurate record-keeping and traceability of inspection results.
Quality control knowledge supports collaboration with production teams to address and resolve quality issues effectively.
Preferred skills like familiarity with quality management software and statistical process control enhance the inspector’s ability to contribute to continuous improvement and maintain high-quality standards.
Location Requirements:
- This position requires full-time, on-site presence at our Midland, TX (79707 & 79706) facilities.
- The standard schedule is Monday – Friday; occasionally weekend work may be needed.
- Due to the nature of this position, there may be days when more than 8 hours is required. This position is eligible for overtime.
