Position SummaryThe Safety Coordinator I reports to the Safety Manager and plays a critical role in conducting jobsite evaluations, delivering safety training, managing documentation, and promoting best practices across departments. This position combines field inspections with office-based administrative duties to ensure company-wide safety compliance and awareness.

Key Responsibilities

Perform safety evaluations at multiple jobsites and ensure immediate correction of deficiencies

Enforce OSHA 1926 & 1910 regulations and company safety protocols

Conduct and coordinate safety training, including:

New employee orientations

Fall protection

Forklift and aerial lift training

Hazard communication and PPE

Maintain training logs and certifications for all employees and subcontractors

Conduct accident investigations and root cause analysis

Facilitate safety stand-downs and toolbox talks

Track and inspect fire extinguishers, PPE, and safety equipment

Purchase and distribute safety gear and supplies

Maintain accurate safety documentation and reports

Attend department meetings and provide updates on safety performance

Ensure new hires complete orientation before starting in the field

Qualifications

Associate degree, technical school, or trade program required

0–3 years of experience in a safety-related role

OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred

Prior safety experience in construction or general industry preferred

Bilingual (English/Spanish) required

Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

Basic understanding of construction safety standards

Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management

Physically able to climb ladders, lift 50+ lbs., and work in extreme weather

Success Metrics

Complete a minimum of 5 jobsite evaluations per month with 100% compliance

Conduct timely and effective safety trainings and toolbox talks

File accurate injury and inspection reports within 48 hours

Ensure all training certifications are properly documented

Maintain up-to-date inspections of fire extinguishers and AEDs

Communicate safety concerns professionally with field and management teams

Working Conditions

Fieldwork and office-based responsibilities

Exposure to heat and outdoor conditions

Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Must be able to work in a dog-friendly environment

Subject to random drug and alcohol testing per company and regulatory requirements
