About This Position
Summary:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Project Engineer / Estimator is an entry-level position responsible for supporting preconstruction efforts. This role assists with quantity take-offs and bid preparation, to help ensure commercial and industrial construction projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
The Project Engineer / Estimator works closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and suppliers to gain hands-on experience in estimating and project controls, while building a strong foundation for advancement within the company.
Additional Information:
This position may require occasional jobsite visits and interaction with field personnel.
Description
• Assist in reviewing plans, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform quantity take-offs and support cost estimating efforts.
• Solicit and track subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Assist in preparing bid proposals and scope summaries.
• Support Project Managers with submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Maintain organized project documentation and digital files.
• Assist with project closeout documentation and final reporting.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and quality standards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Basic understanding of construction processes and project lifecycle.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications (preferred).
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel required).
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to learn estimating software and project management systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Recommended Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
Required Work Experience:
Internship, co-op, or entry-level experience in construction, estimating, or project coordination preferred but not required.
Recommended Work Experience:
Experience working for a general contractor or subcontractor in a commercial or industrial environment.
