Skilled Mechanical at Ashtabula County Medical Center – Ashtabula, Ohio

Summary

The Skilled Mechanical role performs preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment, structures, and systems throughout the facility. This role will perform maintenance repair work in one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and/or paint at the direction and oversight of the department.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Should possess strong technical skills
• Proven emphasis on customer service orientation in responding to requests for service/repairs and dealing with people.
• Knowledge of mechanical/computer interface essential.
• Knowledge of computerized Energy Management System, preferred
• Must possess a valid driver's license and meet ARMC insurability requirements

Required Length and Type of Experience

• Minimum five (5) years experience in one of the following trades: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or HVAC, preferred.
• Military experience such as Utilitiesman (UT), Builder (BU), Machinists Mate (MM), or similar will be considered

Required Licensure or Certification

Dependent on the operational needs. A 3rd class Stationery Engineer's license may be required.

• Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods inside or outside (in extreme weather conditions)
• Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
• Ability to move/transport items weighing up to or more than 100 lbs
• Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to or more than 100 lbs
• Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to more than 100 lbs
• Ability to inspect equipment
• Ability to install, repair and maintain systems, equipment, fixtures, and/or structures
• Ability to distinguish color
• Ability to climb ladders
