STEAM Lab Facilitator Summer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at Project Home

The SMART Lab Facilitator provides STEAM instruction including robotics, coding, 3D modeling, 3D printing, circuit building, etc. to students enrolled in K-12 Education programs. The facilitator is responsible for serving as the Robotics team coach and overseeing the set up and maintenance of the STEAM Lab. This position is funded year-round.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plans, documents, and implements lessons designed to provide instruction in robotics and STEAM skills for students enrolled in the Project HOME K-12 Programs.

• Lessons are conducted five (5) days a week between Monday and Friday from 4 - 6 pm.

• Instructor is paid for two (2) hours of teaching, one (1) hour of set up (3 - 4 pm), and one (1) hour of lesson planning each day they teach.

• Sets up classroom in advance of each lesson; responsibly uses classroom while in class; and cleans up after class.

• Coordinates team participation in area robotics competitions and workshops, provides support for the team, and chaperones.

• Coordinates student showcases in both K-8 and Teen Program.

• Creates student assessment tool.

• Collects and reports accurate student attendance, engagement, and assessment data.

• Summer responsibilities:

• In the summer, 100% of this role is designated to the K-8 Summer Program. Instructor designs and implements projects for students in K-8 all-day summer camp.

• Completes professional development as determined by grant funders, internal requirements, and Manager assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate's degree, or equivalent experience (2 years). Proof of Education (diploma or transcript) required

• Minimum 1-year professional experience working in the culinary field

• Minimum 1-year teaching Robotics & STEAM including lesson planning experience

• Minimum 3 years validated Childcare Experience

• FBI, Criminal History, Child Abuse and National Sex Offender Registry clearance required

• Health Assessment with negative TB test required

Ability to stand for prolonged periods. Ability to Move around a Classroom.
