Job Description
The Senior Project Manager is the primary liaison between clients, contractors, and BNP. The Senior Project Manager is a Subject Matter Expert (SME), with strong technical competency that participates in regularly scheduled meetings with clients and contractors to ensure projects progress on schedule, on budget, and according to the agreed upon Architectural and Engineering design plans. Designers, Project Engineers, Directors, and Executives coordinate with the Senior Project Manager to manage projects by assigning the BNP staff needed to develop all reports, specifications, drawing packages, and any other materials or submittals required by clients across the lifespan of a project. The Senior Project Manager also mentors less-experienced Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Designers to cultivate cohesive development strategies and enable team members to advance their careers.
Job Responsibilities
As a Senior Project Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing projects from start to finish, ensuring successful execution and client satisfaction. The candidate’s key responsibilities will include:
- Primary liaison and SME for clients and contractors
- Coordinates with Designers, Project Engineers, Directors, and Executives to manage projects by assigning staff needed to develop all reports and documentation required by clients
- Authors reports and specifications
- Provides technical explanation of the specifications
- Consults with team members and other Project Managers with specific areas of expertise to achieve best possible solutions for clients
- Manages baggage handling requirements, analytics, and design development
- Manages on-site surveys, inspections, installations, and equipment tests
- Manages punch list resolution and start-up assistance
- Manages project budgets and schedules
- Fields RFI requests
- Reviews specification and results of system simulations
- Provides feedback to Designers and Project Engineers to ensure quality of reports, specifications, drawing packages, and any other documentation submitted to clients
- Mentors Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Designers

Qualifications
Below is an outline of the qualifications for this position. We have many Project Managers who fall outside of this standard, so please do not be dissuaded from applying if you do not meet particular criteria:
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in New Zealand. Verification of employment eligibility will be required as part of the hiring process.
- Applicants must pass criminal background checks and security screening to obtain airport security badges.
- Ideally more than five (5) years’ experience with Baggage Handling Systems or Warehousing
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in project management (preferably in BHS)
- Ideally, management and team-building experience with large design and development groups
- Exceptional client rapport and communication skills
- Skilled in handling multiple responsibilities with efficiency and focus
- Experience with project logistics, timelines, and budgets
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read, interpret, and develop efficient logistics designs and concepts
- Data acquisition and compilation skills
- Experience conducting field surveys, inspections, and equipment tests
- We utilize the latest software package technology in our design efforts, including recent releases of Revit, AutoCAD, Sim 3D, AutoMod, PathPlanner, and the Microsoft Office suite of programs, so experience in any of these would be beneficial.
- Preferred qualifications include a background in mechanical, industrial, or controls engineering. However, civil and electrical engineers, as well as candidates with other educational backgrounds, may be considered if they possess relevant knowledge or experience. Previous experience in conceptual and spatial coordination works with large-scale hub airports is a valuable asset.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in industrial, mechanical, or electrical engineering, aviation management, or airport planning.
- Advanced degree or similar field experience
- PMP certification preferred but not required
- EIT or PE certification preferred but not required
Working Conditions
- This is a full-time position based at our Auckland, New Zealand. Position offers limited remote work.
- The role requires occasional travel for site-based work as well as travel to architectural and engineering partner’s offices.
- Standard 40-hour work week with occasional additional time required to meet deadlines.
- Projects that the successful candidate will participate in will require background checks and may require drug screening.
