Licensed Pract Nurse - HPTL at UK St. Claire – Morehead, Kentucky
About This Position
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing nursing care and care coordination to assigned patients under the supervision of the RN.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs nursing skills and procedures according to established criteria of competent practice. Uses correct scientific and formal reasoning in skills performance.
- Exhibits culture awareness and age-specific care by providing appropriate age and developmental care in a culturally and ethnically sensitive manner. Integrates ethical provisions in nursing practice and delivers care that preserves and respects patients' and families' privacy, confidentiality, and diversity.
- Maintains a safe physical environment, including properly using and storing equipment and ensuring a hazard-free patient area.
- Performs all unit routines and requirements as expected. Utilizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and evidence-based practice in performing specific unit routine requirements.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation timely.
- Delegates tasks appropriately to other personnel and understands the scope of practice for delegating tasks.
- Assesses learning needs and provides tailored education to the patient/family regarding care, treatment, and potential risks relevant to the patient. Ensures a comprehensive understanding and documents accordingly.
Education:
Graduate from an approved practical nursing program required.
Experience:
Previous nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Valid Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) License required. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of the hire date required.
