About This Position
Description:
Summary:
The RN is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality care in the pre-procedural setting and post-procedural setting for all patient populations served.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Explains procedures and treatments to the patient before and after endoscopic procedures to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
- Maintains awareness of the comfort and safety needs of the patient.
- Maintains awareness of the clinical environment and adheres to all infection control policies in accordance with infection control standards.
- Adheres to best practices and standards of care related to patient care.
- Observes the patient and records significant conditions and reactions and notifies the physician of the patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
- Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess the condition of the patient.
- Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
- Communicates the patient’s current status to the appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care.
- Evaluates the patient’s progress toward attaining outcomes.
- Maintains required competencies.
- Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.
- Documents all patient care provided in the patient records in accordance with legal and medical standards.
- Follow and comply with all safety policies.
- Additional duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility.

Education/ and or Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
- One to three years related experience and/or training
- Maintains knowledge, skills, and abilities through ongoing education.
- Completes all mandatory reviews/educational required and assigned.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Is actively committed to meeting / exceeding employee expectations/satisfaction in the performance of job functions.
- Retains all accreditations, licensures, and designations in good standing.
- Maintains compliance with all laws and applicable regulatory requirements. Acts promptly to comply with required changes.
- Specialized Knowledge Required– Including any required certificates, licenses, and registration
- Current unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina or compact state
- BLS required
- ACLS required within 6 months of hire
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Great attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
