Registered Nurse (Endoscopy Unit) (PRN) at Carolina Digestive Health Associates PA – Concord, North Carolina

Summary:

The RN is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality care in the pre-procedural setting and post-procedural setting for all patient populations served.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Explains procedures and treatments to the patient before and after endoscopic procedures to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
• Maintains awareness of the comfort and safety needs of the patient.
• Maintains awareness of the clinical environment and adheres to all infection control policies in accordance with infection control standards.
• Adheres to best practices and standards of care related to patient care.
• Observes the patient and records significant conditions and reactions and notifies the physician of the patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
• Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess the condition of the patient.
• Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
• Communicates the patient’s current status to the appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care.
• Evaluates the patient’s progress toward attaining outcomes.
• Maintains required competencies.
• Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.
• Documents all patient care provided in the patient records in accordance with legal and medical standards.
• Follow and comply with all safety policies.
• Additional duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility.

Education/ and or Experience:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
• One to three years related experience and/or training
• Maintains knowledge, skills, and abilities through ongoing education.
• Completes all mandatory reviews/educational required and assigned.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
• Is actively committed to meeting / exceeding employee expectations/satisfaction in the performance of job functions.
• Retains all accreditations, licensures, and designations in good standing.
• Maintains compliance with all laws and applicable regulatory requirements. Acts promptly to comply with required changes.
• Specialized Knowledge Required– Including any required certificates, licenses, and registration
• Current unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina or compact state
• BLS required
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Great attention to detail.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
