Applewood Village Senior Living in Freehold, NJ is currently seeking a hardworking, dedicated and reliable Porter/Utilities Team Member to join our team!

Essential Functions: *

• Cleans and maintains assigned areas which includes, but is not limited to dusting, vacuuming, shampooing, scrubbing, and washing.
• Learns and follows safety procedures including but not limited to proper hand-washing procedure and universal precautions.
• Adheres to predetermined cleaning schedules and methods.
• Delivers equipment and supplies where needed.
• Prudently and carefully uses supplies and equipment.
• Wears uniform as directed by Applewood Village.
• Promotes better understanding and a spirit of cooperation among patients, staff and visitors.
• Responds to resident needs and concerns in a timely and courteous manner.
• Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
• Maintains confidentiality of all resident information.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Ability to speak, read, write and understanding English in order to communicate and cooperate with and respond effectively to the instructions and requests from a diverse group of residents, visitors and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
• Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences.
• Ability to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance, tolerate long periods of standing, bending, reaching and stretching and performing other such functions as usually performed by housekeeping personnel.
• Availability for evening and weekend work as assigned and willingness to be on-call 24 hours per day to handle emergencies.
• Ability to respond to and work with a mature resident population, creating a warm caring and supportive environment for the enjoyment of the residents and to promote this philosophy to all employees.
