About this Location:
The Renaissance Asheville is a 278 room hotel located in the heart of downtown Asheville, with plenty of greenscapes and sweeping views of the Smoky Mountains. The Blue Ridge Mountains are the perfect backdrop to explore North Carolina's best kept secret. We welcome guests to discover the unexpected as they journey through our neighborhood.
Why do we need you?
To set up banquet room and serve all food and beverages in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
What you will do:
- Attend roll call meetings before events to learn function particulars, including guests and hotel expectations.
- Sets up all banquet functions such as table linens, silverware, glassware, and centerpieces.
- Sets up waiting and beverage stations.
- Sets up all perishable items for banquet service such as bread, butter, and cream.
- Serves all food and beverages to banquet guests. Replenish beverages as necessary.
- Clear away all dishes and items used in the service of a banquet, including the linens.
- Ensures the proper storage of all items from equipment to perishable foods.
- Maintains work areas in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Prepares for future banquets by folding napkins, filling condiments, and performing other duties as required.
- Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
- Once banquet is complete, reset banquet room according to Supervisors’ specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for the following function.
- Required to be always in uniform when working on the property including wearing name identification badge.
- Supports and adheres to the core values, the mission statement, service fundamentals, and guest service philosophy as defined by the company.
- Performs other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs.
Skills and abilities you bring:
- Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
- Always maintain a professional appearance and manner.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions; lift, bend, stoop, walk, push, or pull heavy equipment, and stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions from supervisor.
- Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift.
- Must thrive in a multi-tasking, fast paced working environment.
- Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
- Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware.
- Bilingual, English & Spanish; a plus
Schedule & Hours: This is a seasonal position, working variable hours.
Physical Demands: Medium work. Exerting up to 10 to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, and or requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and or pulling of materials even though the weigh
