About This Position

Description:

Your Hometown Stations is seeking a Meteorologist to join our newsroom in Lima, Ohio. This role is responsible for delivering accurate, compelling weather coverage across broadcast, web, and social platforms — always with an emphasis on protecting the health and safety of our community.

What You’ll Do:
  • Prepare and anchor accurate, engaging, and informative weathercasts
  • Generate daily forecasts including severe weather and potential atmospheric hazards
  • Provide live severe weather coverage across on-air, digital, and social platforms
  • Develop innovative weather presentation tools for television and digital audiences
  • Maintain daily website updates, write weather blog content, and post to social media
  • Represent the station at community events and promotional appearances
  • Collaborate with fellow meteorologists to provide cohesive coverage across our viewing area

Requirements: What We’re Looking For:
  • Strong meteorological skills with the ability to interpret raw data from the National Weather Service
  • Proven ability to forecast trends and communicate potential hazards clearly
  • Excellent on-air presence and ad-lib skills, especially during extended severe weather coverage
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Flexible schedule, including unexpected hours during severe weather events
  • Team-oriented professional with strong interpersonal skills

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science (required)

Experience:

  • 1–3 years of experience as a broadcast meteorologist in a commercial television newsroom

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with weather production systems (IBM Weather Systems/WSI or similar)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and major social media platforms

Certifications:

  • NWA or AMS Certification required
