Hours: 0630 – 2000/ 1830-0800

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APN or PA) to deliver exceptional perioperative and postoperative care within a dynamic surgical environment. This role offers the opportunity to practice at the full extent of your licensure while collaborating closely with attending surgeons and interdisciplinary care teams.
As a key member of the surgical patient care team, you will provide comprehensive, high-quality care to patients across the continuum — from preoperative evaluation through discharge — while contributing to outstanding clinical outcomes.
Position Overview:
The Advanced Practice Provider is an independent healthcare provider who collaborates with attending physicians to coordinate and deliver surgical care. Practice is conducted in accordance with organizational policies and the regulatory standards of the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners and applicable advisory committees.
This role emphasizes clinical excellence, teamwork, and supervised autonomy within a fast-paced surgical setting.
What You’ll Do
Surgical & Clinical Care
- Provide perioperative and postoperative management
- Conduct inpatient hospital rounds
- Respond to consults and urgent surgical evaluations
- Perform comprehensive history and physical exams
- Order, interpret, and communicate laboratory, radiologic, and diagnostic tests
- Prepare and communicate management plans for surgical patients
- Collaborate in patient discharge planning
- Serve as Surgical First Assist in the operating room
- Perform bedside procedures including:
- Wound care and dressing changes
- Temporary dialysis catheter insertion
- Midline insertion
- Central line insertion/removal
- Chest tube management
- Arterial line placement
Patient Experience & Team Collaboration
- Educate patients and families thoroughly regarding procedures and treatment plans
- Coordinate care with bedside nurses, surgeons, and consulting services
- Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills
- Communicate clearly and effectively in high-acuity settings
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care across multiple care environments
Qualifications
For Physician Assistants (PA)
- Current Physician Assistant Certification
- CDS and DEA
- Current BLS and ACLS
For Advanced Practice Nurses (APN)
- Current NJ RN License
- Current APN Certification
- CDS and DEA
- Current BLS and ACLS
Preferred
- Acute Care Certification
- 3–5 years of acute care hospital experience
- RNFA Certification (unless surgical assist training is built into NP program)
Scheduling
- Full Time
- Scheduled as needed
- Coverage include Days, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays
