| Position Summary: | We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on Engineer to lead operations and programming for a Digital Transformation Center (DTC) Maker Space focused on cutting-edge technologies such as 3D printing, digital twins, human-machine teaming, rapid prototyping, and coding, all leveraging model-based systems engineering (MBSE). This role is both technical and community-facing, requiring strong engineering acumen, project management skills, and the ability to engage with a diverse set of users including member companies, local college students, and the broader public. Key Responsibilities Operations & Technology Management - Oversee all aspects of daily operations in the DTC Maker Space. - Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade a variety of tools and technologies, including: - 3D printers and scanning equipment - Identify, procure, and implement new equipment and technologies aligned with Digital Materiel Management themes. Community Engagement & Collaboration - Serve as the primary point of contact for: - Member companies interested in innovation collaboration. - Work with DTC Workforce Development Coordinator to design and lead interactive workshops, demos, and learning sessions on digital technologies. - Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that welcomes makers of all backgrounds and experience levels. Project Development & Innovation Showcases - Conceptualize and build in-house projects that highlight digital innovation capabilities. - Support and mentor teams and individuals using the space to develop their own digital or physical prototypes. - Develop and maintain a portfolio of showcase projects to demonstrate the impact of digital transformation. Strategic Planning & Reporting - Work with DTC Technology Scout to develop a roadmap for evolving the capabilities and community impact of the Maker Space. - Track usage metrics, technology adoption, and project outcomes. - Prepare periodic reports and presentations for leadership, stakeholders, and funding entities. |

| Minimum Qualifications: | - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. - 2 years of hands-on experience with digital transformation projects, prototyping, or systems modeling. - Proficiency in tools such as CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360), 3D printing workflows, autonomy, and/or MBSE platforms. - Experience with basic programming or scripting (Python, Arduino, etc.). - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Experience working on government contracts or working with government clients - Previous work experience at University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) in a digital transformation role |
| Preferred Qualifications: | While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following: - Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline. - Experience managing a maker space or lab environment. - Familiarity with digital twin concepts and IoT integration. - Experience with digital transformation demonstration projects. - Demonstrated ability to engage with both technical and non-technical audiences. - Experience working with or mentoring students or startup teams. |
