Overview

For over thirty years, SAM has built a reputation as a trusted, knowledgeable, and innovative partner. Our licensed professionals transform petabytes of complex spatial data into intelligent insights in a holistic Managed Geospatial Services™ (MGS™) framework. As North America's premiere MGS™ company, SAM provides practical, precise, and high-fidelity solutions designed to enhance decision-making, mitigate risks, achieve strategic objectives, and drive costs out of our client's business. Our vision is to advance spatial data acquisition, improve analysis capabilities, and develop predictive analytics to redefine and transform how infrastructure assets are developed and managed throughout their lifecycles.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a versatile Technical Solutions Specialist with a strong utility background to bridge the gap between our complex SaaS platform and our clients’ unique business needs.

In this role, you won't just be answering questions; you will be the resident expert on the "how" and "why" of our software. You will navigate the intricacies of our application to ensure clients are extracting maximum value, using your technical toolkit to provide insights that go far deeper than the standard user interface.

Client Solutions & Technical Execution:

  • Product Mastery: Develop an expert-level understanding of our SaaS application to provide strategic guidance and technical troubleshooting for enterprise-level clients.
  • Data Deep-Dives: Use SQL and Python to query backend databases and manipulate data, providing clients with custom reports or technical clarity that isn't available through the front-end UI.
  • Client Advocacy: Act as a technical consultant during the onboarding and post-implementation phases, ensuring the software configuration aligns with the client’s specific utility workflows.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Identify, reproduce, and resolve complex technical issues, collaborating closely with the Engineering and Product teams.

Business Development & Growth:

Beyond technical execution, you will play a pivotal role in the expansion of our market footprint. We expect this specialist to:

  • Identify Opportunities: Support and participate in business development activities to identify potential clients and discover novel use cases for our software.
  • Strategic Cross-Selling: Actively unearth opportunities for core business lines by understanding client pain points and positioning our broader suite of services as solutions.
  • Technical Sales Support: Act as the technical "closer" in high-level meetings, demonstrating the deep-tech capabilities of the platform to prospective stakeholders.

Product & Development Contribution

When not directly engaged with client initiatives or growth activities, you will pivot to a Contributor role within our development cycle:

  • Frontend/Full-Stack Support: Contribute to the codebase using TypeScript and JavaScript to build or refine application features.
  • Geospatial Engineering: Leverage a strong ESRI background to enhance mapping capabilities, spatial data visualizations, and GIS integrations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Geospatial Sciences, GIS, Mathematics, or related discipline).
  • Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in GIS, geospatial technology, software development, or data analytics.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Experience with TypeScript and/or JavaScript for application development.
  • Demonstrated experience working within the ESRI ecosystem, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and/or ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Ability to identify business needs and support solution development throughout the sales and delivery lifecycle.
  • Experience within the utility industry (electric, gas, and/or water), with an understanding of operational workflows and challenges.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
  • Experience evaluating existing workflows, identifying gaps, and recommending technical solutions, enhancements, or workarounds.
