Copy Editor at FM Talent Source – Washington, District of Columbia

We are seeking a Copy Editor for a full-time contract opportunity with FM Talent Source for one of our valued clients. This position is 100% remote status.

Responsibilities

Plan, review, and revise content for publication on a regular basis, as assigned. Proofread text for spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors and checks for readability, style, and agreement with editorial policy. Suggest revisions to improve clarity or accuracy. Develop story and content ideas according to the client’s style and editorial policy. Work with writers to make the text more accessible for readers to understand. Perform Quality Control (QC) checks and approve final versions before submission to the client. Conduct research, confirm sources, and verify facts, dates, and statistics cited in material for publication, as required. Suggest arranging page layouts of articles, photographs, and advertising, as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 5 years of copy-editing experience, required.Strong expertise in writing, copy-editing, and document formatting.Fluency with Microsoft Office with an emphasis on MS Word and MS PowerPoint.Demonstrated ability to deliver fast and efficient copy-editing services while maintaining high standards.Knowledgeable in using/adhering to U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) Style manual, APA, and/or Chicago style manuals.Ability to work autonomously and in team environment under deadline pressures.Strong organizational skills that demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
